Winter Carnival Ice Palace

The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival is a 10-day festival that includes a Royal Court complete with coronation celebrations and courtly robes, multiple firework displays, performances, arctic golf, downhill ski races, snowshoe races, curling exhibitions, a lady's fry pan toss, themed parades, and more. The centerpiece of the event is a massive and iconic Ice Palace – which you can tour! - made entirely out of thousands of ice blocks cut from Lake Flower from local volunteers.

Skiing & Snowboarding

A quick drive from Saranac Waterfront Lodge is Whiteface - the most challenging & diverse local ski resort that has over 90 trails of groomers, parks, glades, and slides. If you're a beginner and looking for more gentle slops the whole family can enjoy Mt. Pisgah - it's right in Saranac Lake, and even offers tubing.
